Young Steinway Artist Ke Nicole Hu has grown as an acclaimed young pianist under the guidance of her teachers Ian Parker, Victor Rosenbaum, Orlando Pandolfi, Mila Filatova, Ross Salvosa, and Donna Fishwick. Nicole studies at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and has continued her development over the summers at the Curtis Institute of Music Young Artists Summer Program, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and the Music Without Borders Festival.

A passionate and dedicated performer, Nicole has received 50 First Prizes in competition, including placing Gold in the Steinway Young Artist Competition this year and receiving the “National Jury’s Favorite Award” in the Canadian Music Competition. Nicole also finished First Place in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition in 2021 and received the First Prize in the Seattle International Piano Festival in 2020.

Nicole gave her first concerto performance with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra in the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the age of 10. Since then, she has performed as a soloist with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, and the Nashua Chamber Orchestra. Many of her concerts support charitable causes, including the British Columbia Children’s Hospital.

Nicole is also a talented french hornist, playing as the principal in the St. Paul’s School orchestras and 2nd horn in the New Hampshire All-State Orchestra. Inspired by great works of the past, Nicole has begun to compose her own music, writing for solo piano, string quintets, and symphonic orchestras. Her compositions have been recognized by the 2020 Canada JM Foundation National Composition Competition and the 2021 NYC Contemporary Music Symposium.

A multi-talented scholar, she was a National Silver Medalist in the Scholastic Art & Writing Contest in the Dramatic Script category. She received the National French Grand Concours Exam Gold Medal, and was a Silver Medalist in the Chemistry British Columbia Olympid. She also received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Advanced Mathematics and Science.
