Steinway & Sons announces a new scholarship program for young jazz musicians studying piano, brass, and percussion at Jazz House Kids — one of the nation’s preeminent community arts education and performance organizations.
There are three merit-based scholarships sponsored by both Steinway & Sons and Conn-Selmer: the Steinway & Sons Jazz Piano Scholarship, the Bach Brass Scholarship and the Ludwig Musser Percussion Scholarship. These $10,000 scholarships will cover full tuition for instrumental, ensemble, theory, and composition instruction, as well as four lessons with master artists and additional performance opportunities. Conn-Selmer has also gifted a trumpet to this year’s Bach Brass scholarship awardee.
Jazz House Kids alumnus and Steinway Artist Isaiah J. Thompson was onsite to help celebrate this exciting new partnership. Later this year, the young scholars will give a performance at the Factory as part of Steinway’s “Live from the Factory Floor” concert series.
