Wang Chenzhou
Chenzhou Wang, began to study piano at the age of 5. At the age of 13, he was admitted to the Middle School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He won the Niu Ende scholarship and Shanghai scholarship for three consecutive years during his school years. At age of 16, He was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music- Royal College of Music’s Union College with a full scholarship. In 2022, he was admitted to the New England Conservatory of Music with a high scholarship. He has studied with Mrs. Ya Liang, Prof. Xinyi Ruan, Prof. Ting Zhou, and Prof. Luo Xiao, and is currently studying with Prof. Pavel Nersessian and Prof. Zhe Tang. His awards include the First Prize and the Special Prize of the 9th Steinway & Sons National Youth Piano Competition in 2019 and participated in the Steinway & Sons International Festival in Hamburg, Germany, the First Prize in the Junior group of the 3rd Langlang- Shenzhen Futian National Youth Piano Competition, the Second Place in the 2019 North Coast International Piano Competition in the United States and was invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall. The Second place and the Potential Award in the 1st American Classical Pianists International Piano Competition, the second place in the ensemble group of the 20th Osaka International Music Competition.
During his study, he was honored to be instructed by Alexander Kobrin, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Barry Snyder, Douglas Humpherys, Kathryn Brown, Lang Lang, Dan Zhaoyi, and other famous pianists. He has also collaborated with renowned conductors such as Daye Lin, Ming Liu, Yukuang Jin, Ronan Nissan, etc.. He has performed piano concerto with Berlin Symphony Orchestra in 2023, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in 2019 and 2020, and Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra in 2019. Furthermore, he has performed in many famous concert hall around the world, such as Berlin Philharmonie in 2023, Hamburg Laeiszhalle in 2023, Boston Jordan Hall in 2022, 2023, Boston Symphony Hall in 2022, 2023, Shanghai Oriental Art Center in 2019, 2020, New York Carnegie Hall in 2020, St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre in 2019, Shenzhen Concert Hall in 2019, Shanghai He LuTing Hall in 2018, 2019, 2020, etc., with performances in New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, Boston, Hamburg, Berlin, Osaka, St. Petersburg, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, etc.. Including Steinway & Sons stores in Shanghai, Changsha and Shenzhen.
Other than playing the piano, as a member of the NEC Symphony Choir, he recorded Shostakovich’s Symphony No.13 with conductor Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra for Deutsche Gramophone in 2023.
