Sunny Lin Kai Zhang
Young Steinway Artist Sunny Zhang has garnered numerous prizes in international competition, including: First Prize and Gold medal at the Seattle International Piano Competition in 2017; First prize at the Carmel Clavier International Piano competition in both Solo and Concerto categories; 1st prize at Pacific International Piano Competition in 2014; 3rd prize in Steinway International Piano Competition in Vancouver 2018 and 2019; and Honourable Mention at 17th San Jose International Piano Competition in 2016. He was awarded 2nd place at the National Canadian Music Competition in 2015, and 1st prize in Provincial Arts BC in the 18 & Under category in 2018.
He has performed in master classes with Gary Graffman, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, Eleanor Sokoloff, Lydia Artymiw, and Antonio PompaBaldi. He is currently studying in the pre-college division at Juilliard with Matti Raekallio. This summer he will compete as a semi-finalist in the 2021 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition. Sunny has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall, Chan Centre, Gateway Theatre, and Beijing Concert Hall among others. He has made several concerto appearances with local orchestras at Gateway theatre and Bell Centre in Canada, and with Grosseto Symphony Orchestra in Italy. Prior to his studies at Juilliard PreCollege, Sunny studied with Dr. Jin Zhang in Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and later with Dr. Eugene Skovorodnikov in Canada.
