Hailed for “artistry of poetic and observant sensitivity” (Gramophone), internationally acclaimed pianist Rasa Vitkauskaite released her debut solo CD, Reflections on Ongaku Records, featuring works by Beethoven, Ravel, Guastavino and Liebermann. Fanfare praised her “scintillating pianism” while dubbing her “a Beethoven interpreter of penetrating insight.”
Within the last few years she released recordings of Mozart’s Concerto No. 20 in D Minor and Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3 in C Minor with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, as well as her performance of the Liszt/Weber Polonaise brillante, recorded at the Hungarian National Radio. Her solo recital on the prestigious Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago was broadcast live on 98.7 WFMT Radio and hundreds of affiliated stations. Recent recital tours have taken Ms. Vitkauskaite to China, South Korea, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, and across the United States.
Ms. Vitkauskaite has won top prizes at numerous prestigious international piano competitions: she was declared Winner of the Grand Prix at the Mendelssohn Cup Piano Competition in Italy; she won First Prizes at both Les Rencontres Internationales des Jeunes Pianistes (Belgium) and in the Rubinstein Piano Competition (Paris). A terrific collaborator and chamber musician, Rasa has worked with many worldrenowned musicians, such as Tchaikovsky gold medal violinist Ilya Kaler; world-renowned violinist, chamber musician and teacher James Buswell; University of Maryland professor violinist Irina Muresanu; cellist Julia Bruskin of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; and long-time Cleveland Orchestra principal clarinetist Franklin Cohen, to name just a few. She also performs regularly in one of today’s leading clarinet-piano duos with solo clarinetist Jonathan Cohler.
She is the pianist of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and the Meiningen Trio. In 2016, she cofounded Chamber Music Boston – a premier classical chamber music ensemble featuring exciting performances in intimate settings by world-class artists. Ms. Vitkauskaite teaches at the Concord Conservatory and her private studio in Cambridge, MA. She frequently leads masterclasses worldwide including most recently at Ohio University, University of Akron, and Longy School of Music of Bard College.
