Hsiyun Wu Wing
Born in 2001 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Hsiyun Wu Wing(巫熹芸) started learning how to play the piano at the age of four and was performing by the time she was six. In 2015, she was awarded a scholarship and entrance to The Juilliard School PreCollege as a student of Hung-Kuan Chen. The following year, Hsiyun was awarded the “Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist” prize by From The Top. She is currently enrolled at The Juilliard School in New York with a long-term sponsorship of Olive Leaf Foundation. She has studied at the Philadelphia Young Pianist Academy Music Festival and at the Aspen Music Festival.
She was selected as New York Concerti Sinfonietta’s 2018 Shining Star, a prize which included a performance at Carnegie Hall. She was a SemiFinalist in the 2017 International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians and won 1st Prizes in The Third Paderewski International Piano Competition (Young Artist Group), the 2018 Lee University International Piano Competition, and the 2018 Krystian Tkaczewski International Piano Competition in Poland. Wing was a SemiFinalist in the Young Concert Artists International Audition in the United States.
She has been invited to perform as soloist with orchestras including Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Japan Classical Music Association Orchestra, and Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra. Though her first recording is an album of romantic repertoire, she has recently taken to transcribing and recording film scores for solo piano.
