“The Steinway and Sons piano is pure magic. With it, I can truly be free to express my feelings, confidence, and creativity. Its endless possibilities of sounds are beyond imaginable.”

Hao Er Rachel Wei

At 16 years old, Rachel Wei has been described as an “innate musical talent,” and as having“nimble fingers and marvellous performance skills” (Canadian City Post). She is a
well-rounded pianist, flutist, and violinist, winning third prize at the Canadian Music
Competition 2022; the Royal Conservatory of Music National Gold Medal; the Overall Prize at the Steinway Competition Canada, its youngest winner in history; and first place at the Bellagrande International Music Competition. Rachel was selected to participate in the Southeastern Piano Festival and Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, and chosen as an alternate for the Hilton Head International Piano Competition. She made her
orchestra debut at age six and, since then, has performed in Italy and Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre, a National Heritage Site, playing Prokofiev’s third concerto at age ten.

Beyond musical achievements, Rachel actively contributes to her community. In 2016, she
founded the Beacon of Music Foundation, organizing monthly concerts for the Maple
Residences Senior Home with contributions from hundreds of youth performers. Her
philanthropy extends to supporting Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, raising over $43,430
through annual solo charity concerts. For her efforts, she was recognized as a Vancouver
Canucks BCLC Community Hero and nominated for the Outstanding Youth Philanthropist
Award on National Philanthropy Day 2023.

Despite her achievements, Rachel's life is diverse. Winning the Seanna and Nicole
Strongman ‘All Rounder’ award by Crofton House School in 2021, she excels not only in
music but also in athletics and as the Captain of her school's Model United Nations Club.
She led CAHSMUN Horizons 2023 as its Secretary-General, where over 500 participants
from as far as Nigeria engaged in debate. Rachel embodies excellence across music,
academics, and community service. She is in Grade 11 at Crofton House School and studies piano with Dr. Wayne Weng.

Rachel is a Young Steinway Artist.
