“At home, in the studio or on stage, the Steinway always inspires. Its beautiful tonal balance and dynamic response are unequaled, making it my most reliable and versatile musical companion.”

Hans Vroomans

Hans Vroomans is one of the most sought after pianists in the Netherlands and in Europe. After his classical piano studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Hans Vroomans became one of the first graduates of the jazz and contemporary program at the Rotterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands. During his studies there, with Rob van Kreeveld among others, he got his first taste of orchestral jazz playing with the orchestras of Rob Madna and John Clayton, as well as with the European Community Jazz Orchestra (EuroJazz).

Hans pursued further education in New York, where he stayed for five years and attended New York University. He studied piano with Jim McNeely and Don Friedman and arranging with Bob Mintzer. While in New York he also worked with trumpeter Randy Brecker and saxophonist/clarinet player Eddie Daniels.

Since his return to the Netherlands Hans Vroomans has been the principal pianist of the Metropole Orkest. With this Grammy Award-winning orchestra he has toured both nationally and internationally, and recorded together with the likes of Ivan Lins, John Scofield, Al Jarreau, Kurt Elling and numerous others.

Hans can be heard on countless CDs as a session musician, and he has recorded three CDs under his own name: “We Love Music” (Riff, 1992), “Jazz at the Pinehill” (Challenge, 2000) and, most recently, “L.O.V.E.” (HVM, 2013).

As a free-lance pianist, keyboardist and arranger, Hans is in high demand, both on stage and in the studio. He has been pianist/musical director with singer Laura Fygi touring regularly around the world, especially in Asia. Hans played on most of Laura’s CDs and co-produced and arranged two of her albums: “The Latin Touch” (Mercury, 2000) and “Laura Fygi at Ronnie Scott’s” (Verve, 2003).

In recent years Hans recorded and toured with Dutch singer Trijntje Oosterhuis and he can also be seen and heard with some of Germany’s radio orchestras such as the NDR Big Band in Hamburg, the WDR Big Band in Cologne and the Hessische Rundfunk Big Band in Frankfurt.

Hans is a member of Who’s the Bossa?, an international group of musicians who share their love for Brazilian music.
Hans is also on the faculty of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a teacher of Jazz Piano and is available worldwide for workshops and master classes.
