Alaina Wang
Born in Dalian, China, Young Steinway Artist Alaina Yiwei Wang is emerging as a promising pianist in the youth music community of Vancouver. After settling in Canada at the age of eleven, Alaina continued her piano studies with Art Zhang and Michelle Mares.
In 2020, she was recognized with the Canadian Young Artists Standards of Excellence Award. A frequent prize winner, she was awarded Second Prize in the Richmond Music Festival 2018. In 2017, she was recognized with Valuable Contributions by Amenida Seniors’ Community Program for Veterans and Residents. In 2019, she was invited to perform a piano concerto accompanied by a string quartet on the Vancouver Island. Alaina also took an active role as a member of Jazz band in school, with which she toured in Canada and USA to perform in public. Dedicated to contributing meaningful to her community, she regularly performs in elder care centers.
Alaina was admitted to University of Toronto, majoring in Statistics. However, with the true passion and love in music, she decided to switch her major to piano performance in a music school. In January 2021, she made the covering story of Boulevard magazine and told her life changing story “Music Makes Me Invincible.”
